Basic Calculations
The average mass flow from a geothermal well into a flash reservoir varies depending on factors such as well depth, reservoir characteristics, and local pressure and temperature conditions. However, as a general guideline:
High enthalpy reservoirs (200–300 °C or more):
Wells typically have mass flows ranging from 20 to 100 tons per hour (t/h).
In rare cases, flow can exceed 200 t/h, especially in highly productive fields such as those in Iceland or Indonesia.
Medium enthalpy reservoirs (150–200 °C):
Typical mass flow is lower, generally between 10 and 50 t/h.
